Children of Celebrities – Stereo Bang Bang

March 2, 2010

A couple of moths ago Techno Monkey Media paired up with Victoria’s Kings of enviro-cowboy lounge music, Children of Celebrities, to master their third CD, Stereo Bang Bang. Although the band spent more time in the studio than on their first two efforts, they stuck to their goal of capturing the feeling of a live-off-the-floor sound. Our audio Engineer Spencer Rieu was involved in mixing some elements, and his main responsibility was mastering the album.

Check out www.childrenofcelebrities.com for more information about the band.

BCPVA Christmas Party

The other day, our staff went down to our annual Christmas party and enjoyed an amazing dinner, accompanied by a Frank Sinatra cover artist!

Since we are part of the British Columbia Professional Videographer’s Association (BCPVA), and none of us are really large enough to host our own Christmas party gala – we combine our efforts and share in the festivities!  Some of us brought films down and we screened them after dinner.  Also, there were speeches where a member of our company, John Romein, stepped up as the new President of the BCPVA!

We are all really excited here, as this is a milestone in the growth of our company, Techno Monkey Media, as it has brought us to this new leadership position with our association.

How My Busniess Card Saved Halloween

November 16, 2009

In October, our company spent some time re-designing our business cards because we have about five staff that needed updated cards.  Our efforts resulted in more personalized cards, listing both our corporate contact info as well as some personal contact info.  I was excited because this was going to be the first card which actually had my title of Audio Engineer, designed by a professional graphic artist!

For the Halloween weekend, I had planned a trip to Vancouver Island for both work and pleasure.  I had been hired to master Children of Celebrities latest album, Stereo Bang Bang, and I also have a long-time friend who goes to UVIC.  We spent our Halloween evening touring around Victoria in a limo, visiting several locations like beautiful views of the city cemeteries and beaches!

Later, we ended up at a Halloween dress-up party at a friends house.  Half-way through the Halloween party, I realized that my wallet wasn’t in my pocket where it was supposed to be!  I frantically searched through the entire house got all of my friends who were in the limo with me to check their bags and pockets.  No matter where I looked I couldn’t find my wallet!

In the morning, I got a wake-up phone call on my cell from a officer who informed me that he had found my wallet the night before!  When I showed up to the police station, they handed my wallet to me in a brown bag with my brand new business card stapled to the front. The officer informed me that the only reason they were able to contact me on my personal cell  was because of the business cards that were inside my wallet!

The long and short of this story is I was ridiculously lucky to have a stack of my brand new business cards in my wallet to save my butt!

This upgrade from our 8mm standard definition digitizing will allow us to handle all 8mm film and 16mm film formats, both silent and sound. As many people have already experienced, the final high-definition product is truly something to look forward to!

Fisheye Lens

July 20, 2009

We just purchased a nifty new fisheye lens for our HD cameras!  We haven’t had much opportunity to play around with it yet to find realistic business oportunities to use it for, but we did get out and play with it on our own!  Here’s some sample footage we compiled from the first evening:

Table Tennis Master Shoot

May 11, 2009

In between the Synergy Dance Competition, and our busy dance recital season, we’ve picked up a few gigs to keep us busy.  One of them, for example, is to create two new full-length Table Tennis Training videos for the Table Tennis Master series!
