The Canadian National Dance Championships is the only official competition that will qualify dances to go to the official world championships in Europe.

Synopsis: A former weather girl struggling with her current role as full-time caregiver for her incapacitated father decides to take creative advantage of two evangelists who show up at her father’s door.

Crazy 8s is a contest held in Vancouver where 6 finalist filmmaker teams are given $1000 and a production package to bring a short film to life in just 8 days. “The Weather Girl” was shot in three days in Vancouver, Burnaby, and New Westminster.

“The Weather Girl” will be screening at the Crazy 8s Gala at 7pm on Friday, March 30th together with the other Crazy 8s finalists. Hope to see you there!

The Hangouts feature has been very helpful to us when we’re all working from a distance. With the tools available in the hangout, we can even share our screens and walk each other through various things on our computers. In addition, we use Google docs to make notes from the meeting as a group, so we don’t all individually have to keep our own notes.

The video community is all a buzz about a new camera: The Digital Bolex. The camera shoots uncompressed RAW video with a 16mm sensor, and when the camera is released to the general public this fall it will have a suggested retail price of $3200 USD. If this project succeeds, it will be revolutionary, offering high quality uncompressed video for a reasonable price.

The very fact that Swiss camera manufacturing legend Bolex is supporting this project is something to be excited about. Bolex has been around since the 1920s, and its 1941 model the H16 (pictured above) is still used by filmmakers today. There’s a reason why the Bolex H16 is still being used today: the camera is easy to use, produces great images on film, and is built like a tank. The retro styling of the Digital Bolex isn’t just nice to look at – it’s a marker of quality. This camera is a throwback to the times when beautiful uncompressed images were readily available to all (on film).

The project is being funded on Kickstarter. It made its first milestone of $100,000 within 24 hours of being online and as of writing is currently at $286,556. The campaign doesn’t end until April 11, and any additional funds raised will go towards the further development of mounts, accessories, software, and peripherals.

This is a great design and a wonderful idea, and here at TMM we look forward to seeing where it goes.

The mission statement of the Downtown New Westminster Business Improvement Area is to promote Downtown New Westminster as the preferred place to work, shop, do business, live, visit and enjoy.

The Downtown New Westminster Business Improvement Area (BIA) represents the interests of over 150 property owners and the 500 businesses located from the waterfront up to Royal Avenue, and from the Patullo Bridge to 10th Street.
The BIA provides many benefits and enables property owners and businesses to work together on an ongoing basis as a non-profit society whose mandate is to assist in the revitalization and promotion of Downtown New Westminster.

As a self-help organization funded by Downtown Property Owners and Businesses, the goals of the Downtown New Westminster Business Improvement Society include:

• Continuing to promote Downtown New Westminster through special events, attractions, promotions, and marketing initiatives.
• Continuing to utilize the Fraser River and our city’s history as a focus for increasing the number of people, activity, and development in the downtown area.
• Continuing to work with Downtown Property Owners and Businesses, the City, Police Department and social groups to make Downtown New Westminster a safe and vibrant place to work, visit, live and shop.
• Assisting with the recruitment and attraction of new businesses and development to the downtown, and assisting with the retention of existing businesses.
• Continuing to encourage and facilitate pro-active planning, adequate zoning and design guidelines–both new and existing, which would help with the development of the downtown area while promoting mobility, safety, and beauty.
• Providing leadership and communicating matters of concern to our members, government officials, and to the public.

Last week I got to do another shoot with former two-time Olympian Anna Rice from Canada and the Better Badminton team.

Let me just say – I love my job! At an early age I got involved in media and I never looked back. I have always though that If I had to do a something for the rest of my time here on planet earth, I might as well do something I love. Doing what I love keeps me sane, videography, music production, graphic design its pretty much everything I love to do for an amazing company.
